Animated captions

Karaoke-style captions on every vertical clip, with nothing to set up

On TikTok and YouTube Shorts, plenty of people watch with the sound off. Nysos writes the captions for you: it transcribes the speech, has an AI correct the text, then lights up each word as it is spoken. Six styles are available, and you can switch from the clip's page after the fact. Nysos handles the timing.

How it works

01

Paste a link or upload a file

Paste a YouTube, Twitch or Kick link, or upload a video. Nysos transcribes the speech, detects the language on its own, and picks out the strongest moments to offer you as clips.

02

Pick a caption style

In the form, the Quick preset offers the six styles or no captions at all. You can also save your style in a preset, so it is applied the same way every time, including with Live Watcher.

03

Get captioned clips

Every clip comes out as a vertical 9:16 MP4 with the animated captions already built in. Not happy with the style? Open the clip's page, change it, then regenerate the clip.

Six styles for six ways of telling a story

Nysos offers six styles, plus the option of no captions. Nysos Pro is the most versatile: the active word gives a small pop, and emphasis words such as numbers show up in a different colour. It suits podcasts, interviews and explainers, where a few key words deserve to stand out. It sits at the bottom of the screen, like Storytime, Anime and Clean.

Storytime is a compact red badge in the TikTok spirit, a natural candidate for anecdotes and stories you tell out loud. Punch uses short white blocks with red accents, placed in the centre of the screen, for sharp lines and reactions. Anime shows a single word at a time with a pop on each one, a fast rhythm that fits gaming content and hype moments.

Casual writes in lowercase, with rounded shapes and a touch of yellow, in the centre of the screen: a natural tone, close to everyday conversation. Clean sets the text on a rounded light pill, with the spoken word in black, for a calmer, more restrained look. If you are unsure, try one style on a clip, look at the result, and change it if needed.

The highlighted active word: the karaoke effect

The captions do not appear as a block of text. They follow the voice word by word, and the spoken word is highlighted at the moment it is said. That guides the eye and keeps attention on the sentence. It is the karaoke effect, applied automatically to every clip, with no timing for you to adjust by hand.

It matters most on a feed where part of the audience watches without sound, on public transport or at work. The text lets people follow the idea from the first second, and the highlighted word gives the reading a rhythm. The clip stays understandable even when it is muted.

AI-corrected text you can still edit by hand

Automatic transcription sometimes slips: a misspelled name, a rare word, a technical term. After transcription, Nysos has an AI correct the caption text to limit this kind of error, a step that is on by default. The captions are written in the language spoken in the video, which Nysos detects automatically.

You keep control of the text. In the clip's page, open “Scene analysis”, then “Edit”, and change the text. Check the names of people, brands and places before you publish. Once the text is right, regenerate the clip so the change makes it into the final video.

Changing the style later, and where the captions sit

Picked a style and don't like it on the finished clip? Open the clip's page, go to “Subtitles”, click “Change”, choose another style, then regenerate the clip. You can also edit the style stored in your preset, which applies to future clips and to Live Watcher. With no preset, Nysos picks a style for you, so save a preset if you want a consistent look.

Position depends on the style and the format. It is at the bottom for Nysos Pro, Storytime, Anime and Clean, and in the centre for Punch and Casual. On a split-screen podcast, the captions move to the middle, on the seam between the two panels. On a stream with the webcam on top and the game below, they stay at the bottom.

For a video you already have, Smart Reframe applies the same six styles, word by word, in the language of the video. You import an MP4, MOV or WebM file, or an existing Nysos clip, and you get back a 9:16 video with captions. The cost is the video's length in minutes, shown before you start.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I add animated captions to a TikTok or Shorts video?

Paste a YouTube, Twitch or Kick link, or upload a file: Nysos cuts vertical clips and applies animated captions on its own. For a video you already have, use Smart Reframe: import it (MP4, MOV or WebM), choose a style, and you get a captioned 9:16 video back.

Which caption styles does Nysos offer?

Six styles: Nysos Pro, Storytime, Punch, Anime, Casual and Clean, plus a no-captions option. Each one sets its own look and position, at the bottom or in the centre of the screen. In all of them, the spoken word is highlighted while it is being said.

How are the font and colour of the captions chosen?

You pick one of six ready-made styles: Nysos Pro, Storytime, Punch, Anime, Casual and Clean. Each style brings its own font, colours and position, for a consistent look from one clip to the next. To change the mood, switch to one of the other five styles.

How do I change the caption style on a clip I already made?

Open the clip's page, go to “Subtitles” and click “Change”. Choose the new style, then regenerate the clip to apply it. To avoid choosing every time, save your favourite style in a preset and use that preset for your next clips.

How do I edit the caption text?

The text is corrected by AI after transcription, and you stay in control of it. Open “Scene analysis” in the clip's page, click “Edit”, change the text, then regenerate the clip. A last look at proper names before you publish is a good habit.

Are automatic captions available on the free plan?

Yes, captions are part of every clip's render. The free plan includes 60 minutes per month, with no credit card, and renders in 720p with the “Made with Nysos” watermark. Paid plans remove the watermark, and 1080p starts at Starter.
